Josh Drew introduced as Strength & Conditioning Coach at FinnU

Former U.S. Olympic Committee head strength and conditioning coach Josh Drew has been hired as strength and conditioning coach in the athletic department at Finlandia University.

“Having the privilege to work as Finlandia’s strength coach during this time of athletic expansion is a very exciting opportunity for me and my family,” Said Drew, who grew up in Ontonagon.

Drew comes to the Copper Country after more than a decade of living in Marquette County where he owned and managed Xccelerated Fitness and Wellness Solutions. His training experience is diverse, and includes working with people of all athletic abilities and ages.

“Having coach Drew as part of our athletics staff and campus community is already proving to be an exceptional opportunity for enhancing our athletic program,” said Chris Salani, director of intercollegiate athletics. “His experience working in D-I, D-II, the U.S. Olympic Development program, as well as his extensive exercise physiology background establishes for us, another wonderful asset to help resource and support our student-athletes and athletics growth on our campus. In addition, Josh will also be an invaluable asset to the campus and greater community as he’ll be directing our community-based programs out of the Paavo Nurmi Center as well.”

Drew completed his undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in Exercise Science, and has a master’s degree in exercise science from Northern Michigan University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and NSCA-CPT (Certified Personal Trainer).

Prior to living in Marquette, Drew lived and worked in Arizona and Minnesota. Along with his experience with the Olympic athletes, he has also worked with NCAA Division I and II athletes.
