Levi Frahm pitched a complete game, and struck out nine. Luis Larson drove in the game-winner, as Jeffers scored all their runs in the bottom of the seventh, after Gogebic starter C.J. Waino reached his pitch limit. The Miners had ousted Ontonagon 14-0 in the other semifinal. The Jets will face Norway in a regional semifinal Wednesday at 1:00 at Norway.
• Because of the rainy forecast, the Division Three district tournament scheduled for today has been pushed back to Sunday. The host Houghton Gremlins will face Hancock at 12:00 in the first semifinal, with coverage on 97.7 The Wolf. Negaunee and Iron Mountain will tangle in the second semifinal at 2:30. The championship game will be played at 5:00, with coverage on 97.7 The Wolf.

In the high school softball tournament…
• Hancock won the Division Four district crown Friday. In a three-team district, the Bulldogs stopped L’Anse 13-3 in the semifinal. In the title match, Hancock dispatched Lake Linden-Hubbell 8-3. Sadie Biekkola went the distance to get the win, and had two hits and drove in two runs. Kaelyn Rouleau also had two hits and two RBI. Payton Goldsworthy had a double and a home run for the Lakes. Hancock will take on Ishpeming in a regional semifinal next Saturday at Norway.
• The Division Three district tournament set for today has also been delayed until Sunday because of the threat of rain. The host Calumet Copper Kings will play Negaunee at 12:00. Houghton will face Westwood at 2:00. The winners will meet in the title match at 4:00. We’ll broadcast both semifinals on KBear 102.3, and will also air the championship game, if the Gremlins and/or the Kings advance.

The U.P. track and field championships will be staged today at Kingsford.

NHL

The Oilers downed the Stars 3-1 last night. Edmonton takes a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference championship series, and will host game six tomorrow night.

The Panthers host the Rangers tonight. Florida leads the Eastern Conference championship series 3-2.

NBA

Troy Weaver has been fired as general manager of the Pistons. The move came after the worst season in team history. The decision was made by new team president Trajan Langdon. Weaver was reportedly offered a scouting job within the organization, but declined it. There’s still no word as to the future of head head coach Monty Williams.

MLB

The Tigers dropped a 7-3 decision to the Red Sox last night. Kenta Maeda gave up four runs in the fourth inning, and left as Boston scored another in the fifth. Colt Keith homered for Detroit.

The Tigers visit the Red Sox again this afternoon. Reese Olson will pitch against Cooper Criswell. Coverage will begin at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Mark Canha sat out yesterday’s game with a sore hip. He likely won’t start today, either. The Tigers could be without Kerry Carpenter for longer that originally anticipated. The source of his back pain has been diagnosed as a lumbar spine stress fracture.

The Brewers pummeled the White Sox 12-5 last evening. Starter Tobias Myers left in the fifth inning, after surrendering five runs. Milwaukee broke the game open with a six-run seventh inning. Christian Yelich had five hits, and drove in five runs.

Rhys Hoskins returned to the line-up last night, after missing 15 games with a strained hamstring. Owen Miller was sent down to Nashville.
