Jeff Olson Destigmatizing Mental Illness at Hancock High School

Do it for Daniel is a movement that grew from tragedy. The story of the Ishpeming Hematites and their courageous 2012 season, that followed the loss of their star quarterback and their coach’s son, Daniel Olson, is one of overcoming loss and remembering the best qualities in a person. Today Daniel’s father, Jeff Olson is stopping by Hancock High School to share his family’s story and help motivate kids to speak up when they feel depressed. Depression and mental illness topics are difficult to begin, and often times happen too late. The Olson family story hopes to break down walls in communities, and destigmatize mental illness. By viewing the documentary and hearing from Jeff Olson, Hancock High School, wishes to build upon a supportive community.
