The Sanilac County jail, in the Thumb, is trying out a new pilot program to encourage prisoners to be on their best behavior.
The jail has given every inmate a tablet, which gives them more access to library materials and resources to look for jobs.
The Detroit Free Press reports the county’s sheriff says giving inmates tablets will hopefully encourage them to use their time more constructively.
And if a prisoner acts up then the tablet goes away.
St. Clair County, which is north of Detroit, is also looking at using a similar pilot program – as are other counties.
