The head of the L’Anse Area Schools is being tapped for a new position.
Superintendent Carrie Meyer has been offered the same position in the Ishpeming Public Schools District.
The board interviewed a number of candidates, all with some form of superintendent experience or as long–standing building administrator.
But in the end, Ishpeming Interim Superintendent Anthony Bertucci said the board felt that Meyer stood above the rest.
“Mrs. Meyer really had all of the qualities that the board was looking for,” said Bertucci, “by that I mean: the years of experience, the familiarity with Upper Peninsula schools, and the familiarity with Ishpeming. I think that all of those things together made her the top candidate.”
The board is expected to meet with Meyer on Tuesday night to review the particulars of a contract.
If an agreement is reached she would likely begin sometime in the beginning of November.
