International Frisbee Tournament

For the fourth year in a row, Calumet was home to the Coca-Cola International Guts Frisbee Tournament this past weekend. Teams from far and near made their way to Agassiz Field to throw their discs at unbelievable speeds in hopes of leading their team to victory. Tournament Director Tom Tikkanen says one of the goals this year was to attract a younger group of participants.

Aside from the tournament, spectators were treated to some special exhibitions. Rob McLeod and his dog, Davey Whippet, attempted to catch a frisbee in the air from 400 feet away. Also, the world famous Velasquez Brothers performed a freestyle routine for the crowd. Jens, the eldest brother, says he sees great things in the future of guts frisbee.

The Boomtown Saints won this year’s tournament, their fourth win in the last five years.
