International Bridge Tolls Going Up

Tolls will be going up April 1 on the International Bridge, which connects Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The increase, approved unanimously by the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority in November, covers both commercial and passenger vehicles. Passenger vehicle tolls will increase from the current three dollars per trip to $3.50 per trip. And it will increase to four dollars on April 1, 2019. The authority says the increase was prompted by a review of its long-range financial plan detailing the operational and capital improvement project needs of the the 51-year-old bridge for the next 30 years.
