“It is exciting to see so many people equally invested in the leadership of our community,” said Kevin Store, Executive Director of the Portage Health Foundation and a co-organizer of the event during his opening remarks. “We are pleased that so many people came out to share experiences, learn new skills, and be a part of this leadership conference.”
The event kicked off with a Keynote Address presented by Brooke Judd from the Franklin Covey Leadership Institute. Judd’s presentation on the 7 Habits of Effective Leaders was well-received and very inspirational to those in attendance.
Several other speakers presented throughout the day. Other topical sessions included How to engage and Mobilize Young Professionals, Governance and Leadership, Strategic Planning, Mentorship and Collaboration for systems Change.
A legislative session included a conversation with Senator Tom Casperson and Representative Scott Dianda.
The conference concluded with a panel discussion with several area non-profit and community leaders that addressed the many challenges they are faced with during times of continued fund reductions, increased costs, and an ever present need in our community.
Organizers of the event intend that this will be a recurring event and are beginning to look at plans for next year’s conference.
