General Motors is expanding its recall of compact cars due to an ignition problem that is being connected to 13 deaths. The recall now affects nearly one-point-four million vehicles. In addition to nearly 800,000 Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5 cars that were recalled earlier this month, GM is also recalling Saturn Ions, Chevrolet HHRs, Pontiac Solstices and Saturn Sky models made between the years of 2003 and 2007. The recall stems from an ignition problem that can cause the vehicles to switch out of the “Run” position. When that happens the engine shuts off, which makes the power brakes, power steering and airbags non-operational.
