House Votes to Form Special Committee to Determine if Embattled State Reps Should Keep Their Jobs

Lawmakers in the Michigan House voted late Wednesday to form a special committee to determine if State Representative’s Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat are fit to be state lawmakers.

The two had an affair.

An internal investigation is underway to determine if they used taxpayer dollars or resources to cover it up.

House Speaker Kevin Cotter says, right now, the committee is just an option and no members may ever be appointed to it.

However, if four Republicans and two Democrats are appointed to the committee they could recommend expulsion, censure or other kinds of disciplinary action – or nothing at all.

The House Business Office, which is conducting the investigation, could wrap up its work early next week.
