The top Republican in the Michigan House says Flint won’t see another dime from the state to help with its water crisis until October, when the new budget takes effect.
House Speaker Kevin Cotter says lawmakers took care of immediate needs, such as approving money for bottled water and water filters and to reimburse residents who paid their water bills.

Flint is trying to get a jumpstart on replacing lead pipes in the city but needs money to do so.
Cotter calls the effort premature and wants Flint’s mayor to slow things down.
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver, on the other hand, wants him to reverse his stance.
