House Democratic Leader Says Gov Made Right Call on Syrian Refugees

The Democratic leader in the Michigan House says the state’s Republican governor is making the right call in turning away additional refugees from Syria for the time being.

House Minority Leader Tim Greimel says, in this instance, safety trumps hospitality and the most important thing right now is to ensure Michigan residents are safe.

Rick Snyder announced his decision after the terrorist attacks in Paris.

However he went on to clarify Monday that refugees on their way to the state won’t be turned away.

Snyder, and other governors, are expected to be briefed this week on updated federal screening procedures.
