House Committee Makes Another run at Passing Energy Reform Bills Today

The chairman of a Michigan House committee will make another run at passing what’s becoming a controversial package of energy reform bills today.

The House Energy Policy Committee met twice Wednesday but didn’t pass any of the three bills before it.

The committee also didn’t tackle the dozens of changes proposed by lawmakers on the panel.

There are several hang-ups with the legislation.

Some lawmakers think a vote is being rushed after they didn’t receive one of the bills, which is 66-pages long, until Tuesday afternoon.

Democrats on the panel want energy efficiency standards to be included too.

Other lawmakers are balking at a provision that would prohibit someone who left the electric choice market from returning to it for 20 years.
