House Committee Chair Calls for Courser Censure

A state lawmaker is calling for the public censure of Representative Todd Courser for skipping a committee meeting while he tried to cover up his affair with fellow House Republican Cindy Gamrat.

In secretly recorded audio of Courser, released earlier this month, an aide can be heard telling the representative he was late for a House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.

Courser never made it to the meeting.

Committee chair, Representative Tom Barrett, says Courser should be punished for that.

He says Courser’s action is disrespectful to members of the military and to the state’s veterans.

Barratt says he’s been in discussions with the house speaker about possible action the committee can take, but says whatever they do could be overshadowed by Courser’s resignation or expulsion from the House, if it goes that far.
