If you live in Houghton County, your property taxes are being spent wisely according to a national financial technology company.
New York-based SmartAssets ranks Houghton second on a list of counties in Michigan who best spend the property taxes collected.
The study took into account school rankings, crime rates and the amount of property taxes collected then worked out an Overall Value Index for each county.
The website says the results show where people are getting the most bang for their buck, or where their property tax dollars are going the furthest.
