Houghton-Portage Township Schools Hosting the First of Three Community Forums Tomorrow Night

Education regularly evolves to fit the educational needs of a community of young people. Soon the Houghton Portage Township School District will begin a series of community forums to give families, students, faculty, and the public opportunities to voice opinions as the district looks to explore potential uses of space and facility expansion. Over the years Houghton Portage Township schools have seen large growth enrolling 100 more students than ten years ago.

The first of the three forums will discuss H-PTS’s history and challenges for the district.

A second forum later this month will encourage the community to envision an elevated education system in Houghton.

A final session will take place in March. That forum will overview the community’s feedback to the district and potential concepts created out of the previous forums.

The first Community forum for Elevating Education for ALL Gremlins will take place tomorrow at 6 pm inside the Elementary school cafeteria. The other two forums will take place on February 28th and March 13th. The school district does not intend for sessions to last longer than an hour each.
