More tourists may come to Houghton this year after reading the rankings published in a national online magazine.
Smithsonian.com listed their 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2016.

With attention given to the area’s copper mining history and year-round outdoor recreational opportunities, Houghton is said to be a must-visit vacation spot.

The rankings were done in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.
Seward, Alaska was ranked number one.
