Houghton Director of Public Works Resigns

The City of Houghton will soon begin searching for a new Director of Public Works.  Houghton City Manager Eric Waara announced the resignation of former Director Mark Zenner at Wednesday’s regular scheduled meeting.

Waara said Zenner had been in discussions with the city over the last few weeks before deciding to leave his position in search of other undisclosed opportunities.

Zenner will reportedly work closely with the city during the transitional period as preparations for searching for a new director are made.

Mayor Robert Backon expressed his appreciation for the years of service that Zenner had provided and the council voted unanimously to accept the resignation with regret.

Zenner had served as the Director of Public Works for approximately 17 years.
