Houghton DDA Facade Grants Announced

The City of Houghton has awarded $30,000 in grants to help 10 downtown businesses upgrade their appearances.

The money comes from the Downtown Development Authority, and is double what is usually awarded. No grants were given out last year, because of the Father’s Day Flood, so that money was added to this year’s pot.

Grants were issued as follows:
 – Krunch – 501 W Memorial – $3,000
 – Joey’s Seafood – 304 Shelden – $3,000
 – Michigan Made – 300 Shelden – $2,500
 – Lewis Building – 100 Dodge – $3,000
 – Douglass Agency – 318-324 Shelden – $2,500
 – Julien Properties – 418 Shelden – $2,000
 – Vault Hotel – 600 Shelden – $2,500
 – Marketing Dept. – 608 Shelden – $3,000
 – Orbit Video – 706 Shelden – $4,000
 – Bookworm – 815 Shelden – $4,500

Facade Grant money will be used by the property owners to help pay for improvements to the exteriors of their buildings.
