It’s Day Two of the Houghton County Fair.
The fair got off to a terrific start yesterday with the improved weather and a nice opening day crowd came out to enjoy the $1 rides.
Fair Association President Richard Freeman talks about this year’s special attractions.
Five young ladies competed in the Houghton County Fair Queen Pageant.
Contestants performed in the talent portion of the event then appeared in their evening gown to answer a question.
After all the scores were tallied up, the winner was 16-year-old Alexis Aho of Calumet.
Alexis has been battling a condition known as P.O.T.S, but that only served as extra motivation to do well.
The first runner-up was 17-year-old Sophie Rowe of Hancock and 17-year-old Briana Foreman of Atlantic Mine was the second runner up.
Additional awards given on Day One include the Best of Show in the Junior and Senior Youth Divisions.
