Two criminal cases were in Houghton County Circuit Court yesterday for pretrial hearings. 34-year-old Nima Nassiri is being charged with second-degree murder for the fatal domestic assault incident involving his wife back in December. Defense attorney David Gemignani requested a forensics report which was granted by Judge Charles Goodman. Another pretrial will be scheduled on a future date. Also in court was Micheal Kangas. He is being charged with three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Gemignani requested further discussion on the case based on the special needs of his client. A final pretrial date will be scheduled before the case goes to trial. Brad Aldrich will appear in circuit court this morning for sentencing on his fourth degree CSC charge.
