A local skateboard deck manufacturer is getting a boost from the Houghton County Revolving Loan Fund.
At their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, the Board of Commissioners voted to extend a loan to Quincy Woodwrights in the amount of $21,910.
The loan will lead to three additional people being hired by the small business.
In other business, the board approved a resolution to build a fence to keep people off the walkway at the Otter Lake Dam for up to $10,000. The walkway is in need of repair but the cost to do that would as much as $18,000 to make it safe.
Residents of the area recently voted unanimously to build the fence rather than to pay for the repairs to the walkway.
If you are in a hurry, you will now be able to get a marriage license the same day from the Houghton County Courthouse.
The board established a $25 fee for same day licenses in addition to the $20 current fee.
Normally, there is a three day waiting period for the license, but that waiting period can be waived if the parties show just cause.
A $25 fee for performing weddings was also set by the board.
The Houghton County Memorial Airport got permission from the board to accept a grant of $901,000 for the rehabilitation of the terminal apron at the airport.
