New term. Same city council. At last night’s Houghton City Council organizational meeting, the four incumbents that were on the ballot for last week’s election: Robert Megowen, Mike Needham, Gernot Joachim and Dan Salo, were sworn in for their new terms. The council then voted for Robert Backon to serve as mayor again and for Robert Megowen to serve as mayor pro-tem. Mayor Backon says he really enjoyed seeing how downtown has transformed in the past two years.
And with heavy snowfall putting a hold on any paving projects, Backon says the most important thing going forward is to make sure the roads are in tip-top shape.
The council will hold their regular meeting tonight at 5:30.
