Houghton City Council Meeting Recap

The Houghton City Council has updated many of their policies, including a couple at last night’s meeting. Yesterday, the council approved a few changes to the city’s purchasing policy for municipal employees. City Manager Eric Waara says he decided that the changes be made so that the city’s purchasing policy in regards to transit was lined up with the state’s.

The council also approved to have the Planning Commission update the city’s Master Plan to include elements of the city’s Wellhead Protection Plan, which deals with the city’s wells and water supply. That resolution also calls for the plan to be incorporated into city zoning ordinances.
