High School Baseball Coming To CLK Schools

The head of the CLK Schools will be sticking around.

At the March meeting of the school board, the contract for Superintendent Darryl Pierce was extended for an additional year.

The board also accepted the revised budget for the 2015-2016 school year.

Baseball is coming to Calumet High School.

The board approved establishing a high school baseball program with the understanding it will be a self-supporting program.

David Yeo was appointed as head coach for the boy’s baseball team and Abe Voelker was appointed as the assistant coach for the 2016 season.

The board also celebrated the success of several students and organizations…among those was the JROTC JLAB Leadership and Academic Team for advancing to the National Competition to be held in Washington D.C. in June The JROTC also recently placed first in the Arctic Raider Challenge. Major Mike Farley and his staff were also recognized.

Washington Middle School and Calumet High School recently placed first in their divisions at the U.P. Science Olympiad and will travel to the state competition in Lansing in April.

The next Board of Education meeting will be Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30pm.
