Heroin & Meth Use Rages On In The Copper Country

Efforts continue to battle the ongoing drug problems in the Copper Country.

Trooper Matt Djerf of the Michigan State Police Calumet Post says heroin has impacted other Upper Peninsula communities and it’s starting to have an affect here.

Before heroin, meth was among the main concerns in the fight against drugs.

Djerf says it’s important not lose sight of the fact the meth is still a problem for the area.

Djerf says they are attacking the problem with a mix of law enforcement and education and he hopes that more resources will be dedicated in the near future.
