Heikenpaiva 2015 Recap

We have reached the midpoint of winter, thanks to a great day of festivities this weekend.

With the weather cooperating much better than last year, a great crowd showed up this past Saturday for Heikienpaiva. Finnish Theme Committee member Jim Kurtii says the event gets bigger every year.

Olli-pekka Malinen was one of those coming from Finland and he says it’s great to see a strong Finnish culture in this area.

From the whipsled to the tori markets to the polar bear dive, there was something to do for just about everyone. I asked Kurtii about how the event has grown and he says getting the youth involved is very important.

Pictures and videos from the entire weekend are up on the Keweenaw Report, The Wolf and KBear Facebook pages.
