While each competitor wants to earn a blue ribbon, only one exhibitor can take home the exhibitor of the year award. After coming away with two best of show exhibits, and two silver platter award, this year’s Houghton County Fair Exhibitor of the year award goes to Pamela Hecht. She submitted and won best of show in Fine Arts, and Other Needlework categories. Her silver platter awards come from the Florticulture, and fine arts/ folk arts categories.
A second major award given out by the fair board each year is the Agnes Ahola Award, given to a fair board volunteer who shows hard work and dedication to making the County fair the best it can be each year. The award is named for Agnes Ahola, a long time volunteer with the Houghton County fair. Congratulations to Joan Dostaler, for earning this year’s Agnes Ahola Award from the Hoguhton County fair.
