Head Of Michigan's Democrat Party Predicts Allen Will Beat Out Casperson In August Primary

Dillon, BrandonThough most of the nation is focused on Iowa, there is a contest closer to home that is expected to grab a lot of attention later this year.

Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon says the race for the 1st Congressional District is going to be a hard fought one.

With Congressman Dan Benishek retiring, State Senator Tom Casperson and fellow Republican Jason Allen are in the running, along with Democrats Jerry Cannon and Lon Johnson.

Though Casperson is well known in the Upper Peninsula, Dillon expects to see Allen come out on top after the primary.

Allen is from the Traverse City area.
