Head of Agency for Energy Tells State Lawmakers How Mi Will React to Fed Final Rule

The head of the state agency coordinating the state’s energy programs told state lawmakers how Michigan will react to new federal clean energy rules.

The federal government recently released its final rule on carbon emissions, which require state’s come up with a reduction plan or abide by federal guidelines.

Valerie Brader of the Michigan Agency for Energy told a Senate committee the state plans on working with energy stakeholders to come up with a clean energy plan rather than going with a federal plan.

She says federal solutions are not economical, don’t provide energy reliability and are not always best for the environment.

Brader says going with a state plan will work better to meet the state’s needs.
