HANCOCK, MI – Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (UGL) welcomes Michael Verive, MD, to their team of Pediatric providers at the Hancock Family Health Center. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Verive is board certified and maintains an ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and advocacy for children.
Dr. Verive is coming to the Copper Country from Evansville, IN, where he served as the Medical Director for Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric Transport and Pediatric Advanced Life Support at St. Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children. He is bringing with him more than 15 years of experience in pediatric critical care.
“I came up here and fell in love with the place, the people and the health center,” said Dr. Verive. “There is something that always brings people back to this area.” Describing the Copper Country as a great place to raise a family, he is looking forward to walking the waterfront, the beaches, skiing, mountain biking and hitting with trails with his wife, Nancy, and two daughters.
Dr. Verive completed his residency at Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL after finishing medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. After residency, Dr. Verive continued his education as Pediatric Critical Care Fellow at Hope Children’s Hospital.
“I take what I do seriously,” said Dr. Verive “but, I have fun doing it.” He is looking forward to watching the children he serves through UGL’s clinic grow and keeping them healthy. Dr. Verive has been known for his box of kid friendly goodies and his collection of fun pediatric socks. “If you play with children, they will let you into their world and the parents know you care about their child.”
