Hancock Tori Farmer Market attendees could help their neighbors with a life-saving donation on Thursday. The Red Cross blood drive will be held next to the Quincy Green in the First United Methodist church fellowship hall. Hancock DDA Coordinator, Deborah Mann said the need for donations is critical.
Donating is pretty easy Mann said. And patients at area hospitals really benefit from blood donated at events like this. Type o blood is the most commonly donated, but supply is low for all blood types. Only about 38% of the United States population is even eligible to donate blood. And as for the need, Mann says, that someone in the U.S. needs a transfusion every 2 seconds. The blood drive starts at 3 pm and goes until 6 Thursday night.
