Hancock Public Schools & UP Michigan Works! Partner for a Copper Country Job Fair for Local Schools

Upper Peninsula Michigan Works! partnered with Hancock Public Schools yesterday to host a job fair just for students. And that means juniors and seniors from Houghton and Hancock to Baraga and Calumet. Students met with recruiters in the Hancock gym to learn more about each other.

So they can set up fro an apprenticeship for example. Which is a commitment towards getting some sort of certification in the field they want to work with. Or an internship, which is a more robust program. Or even a job shadow. We want the students out here to know what options are available to them. – Matt laird, Talent Specialist, UP Michigan Works!

Hancock Schools Superintendent Steve Patchin and Upper Peninsula Works! Matt Laird hope to make the job fair an annual school event. Laird said anyone that missed out on today’s job fair can go to upmichiganworks.org to learn more about employment opportunities and programs going on in your area.
