Though dissolved on March 20, the Lake Linden Schools and Hancock Public Schools Varsity Hockey co-op will be put up to a vote to be reinstated on April 17.
The Hancock school board claims they voted to end the co-op due to concerns from the Hancock hockey community. The concerns were centered around local Hancock players not being offered the opportunity to play varsity hockey.
The meeting last week housed a full audience, many speaking about their objection to the end of the co-op. Players and the coaches of the varsity hockey team spoke their objection to the dissolution of the program. They unanimously agreed all the players deserved to be there, and that it made them a better team.
Backlash from the Hancock hockey community made the school board realize that it is necessary and desired. The meeting on April 17 will include a vote as to whether the co-op should be reinstated.
