Hancock News: City Manager Gets A New Contract & Biodegradable Lawn Bags Available

The Hancock City Council is pleased with the job City Manager Glenn Anderson has been doing and they want him to keep doing it.

At Wednesday’s regular monthly meeting, the council approved a new three year contract for Anderson.

The contract, which runs from July 1st of this year through June of 2018, grants the city manager a three percent pay increase each year.

Hancock Mayor Lisa McKenzie says he’s earned it.

In other business, the council is urging residents to purchase a new biodegradable bag for yard waste from the city.

The new bags are green in color and are designed to break down in six months, which will help the city’s drop off compost pile.

The clear plastic bags currently in use can take up to 20 years to biodegrade.

Hancock city officials ask that if you do use the clear bags, the contents of those bags will have to be emptied at the drop-off site so that that actual bags themselves do not go into the pile.

The more eco-friendly green bags are available for purchase through the city.
