A Hancock man is dead after a fatal snowmobile accident Saturday morning in Adams Township.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 3:00am on Trail No. 3 between South Range and Atlantic Mine.
Officials say 50-year old Matthew Ray Heikkinen lost control of his snowmobile and struck a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Michigan State Police, Adams Township First Responders and Superior Service Towing all assisted the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
