Hancock residents are letting their voices be heard about this summer’s road adjustments on White Street. Back in June, the Hancock City Council passed a ruling making White Street a one-way street going up towards US-41, which in turn brought more traffic to residents of Scott St. Last night at the Hancock City Council council meeintg, many complained about drivers who use the shortcut to get back onto US-41 with little regard for the speed limit and traffic signs. The council was advised to request tougher enforcement of traffic violations in that area. Also at the meeting was a presentation of the final sewer flow report and City Manager Glenn Anderson says the numbers pointed out a certain area of Hancock.
Anderson added that there isn’t any evidence to point out a specific cause for the increased flow. The council also approved an agreement for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation application for a SmartZone Sattelite in Marquette as well as reopened Wright Street and Tezcuco Street to thru traffic which was blocked to prevent those who came down White Street from continuing down to Tezcuco which caused an increased number of accident.
A renewal of the city’s Trunkline Contract with MDOT was also approved.
