A new poll finds Michigan’s gubernatorial race this year is now a dead heat. The statewide poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling, says incumbent Governor Rick Snyder is in a 40-40 tie with Democratic challenger Mark Schauer. Earlier, the governor had leads of 49% to 39% in April and 44% to 40% in December. Currently 37-percent approve of the job the governor is doing, and 54% disapprove. Both numbers were in the 40s in early polling. While Schauer is even in the polling with the governor, he is largely unknown to the public. 49% have no opinion about him, and of those who know him, 27% have a favorable opinion, and 24% have an unfavorable one.
