Grant Will Aid Qualified Finlandia University Students

Finlandia University has been awarded more than $286,000 annually for the next five years by the U.S. Education Department.

The funds will help provide students with academic and other support services they need to stay in college and earn a bachelors degree.

These students meet income guidelines, are the first in their family to pursue a bachelors degree, or possess a learning or physical disability.

Nationally students involved in these federally funded program have achieved higher persistence and graduation rates.

The funding will help Finlandia support 180 students each year for the next five years.

The program focuses on each student’s strengths by getting to know the student, and providing individually designed academic support on a student-by-student basis.

Students may receive supplemental instruction, tutoring, coaching, access to college success skill workshops, graduate school field trips and career exploration, such as job shadowing or job search support. Services are fluid to meet the student where they are at in their college experience.
