Grant Sought To Improve West Houghton Park

The Houghton City Council, at their regular meeting Wednesday, voted to move ahead with a Recreational Passport Grant application to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

If approved, the $45,000 grant would go to improve the West Houghton Neighborhood Park.

The city would also put in $30,000 in match funds for the project.

The money would be used to increase handicap accessibility to the park and to build a new warming house, complete with restrooms.

The earliest the project could begin would be 2017.
