Participating in a walkathon or singing the National Anthem out of tune would no longer be illegal, under legislation signed by Governor Rick Snyder.
The bills are part of an effort to eliminate outdated and unnecessary laws, also known as blue laws.
Other laws removed from statute under this legislation concern cursing in front of woman and children, participating in a duel and making derogatory statements or spreading rumors about someone’s financial situation.
The bill package was the result of a House criminal law workgroup to repeal the state’s blue laws.
