Global warming is already affecting the future of Michigan wildlife, according to a report from the National Wildlife Federation.
The report details how the young of many species are at risk because of a changing climate, a situation, the report says, will worsen if the nation does not curb carbon pollution. Officials from the national Wildlife Federation, says climate change is making it harder and harder for many animals to raise their young and keep them well fed and healthy. Animals at risk in Michigan include: Brook trout and smallmouth bass that need cooler water temperatures to reproduce; and Moose that become heat stressed in warmer temperatures. The report calls for cutting carbon pollution from coal-fired power plants, reducing the use of fossil fuels, and more investment in clean energy development.
