The Copper Country’s favorite Comic con festival returns to Michigan Tech’s campus on Saturday. The 6th annual GEEK U.P. brings together all aspects of pop culture with comic books, video games, cosplay, art, and a panel with creators. The six-hour festival will take over the Memorial Union Building with activities in the Superior Room, Alumni Lounge, Greenstone Lounge, Ballroom, the Commons, and MUB Lawn. This year Organizers for Geek U.P. ask attendees to help support the Husky Food Access Network. Attendees to the festival can make a monetary donation or add a can of food to Husky FAN’s pantry. Husky FAN supports students by fighting college food insecurity and allowing students access to a free pantry of food supplies. Since 2014 the student pantry has supplied nonperishable foods including canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, grains, cereal, and peanut butter, as well as easy-to-make items such as powdered soups and macaroni and cheese boxes to campus. The Husky FAN pantry is located inside Fisher Hall. Operation hours are based on volunteer availability. Those interested in learning more about Husky FAN, and how students can sign up or get involved as volunteers can find more information here.
