With summer gas prices on the rise, state inspectors are going around checking gas pumps to ensure Michigan motorists are getting what they pay for at the pump. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director Jamie Clover Adams says Michigan has approximately 100,000 gas pumps and they want to make sure those pumps are dispensing both the correct quantity and the proper quality of gas every time someone fills their tank. Adams also says some Michigan counties have switched to a summer-blend of fuel to prevent over 28 tons of smog-causing compounds from being released into the atmosphere per day during the warm weather months.
