A lot of people are anxious for the upcoming long holiday weekend. Triple-A predicts that one point four million Michiganders will be traveling during the July Fourth weekend. That’s up slightly from last year–and the highest total in more than a decade. About 85 percent of travelers will do so by car. Travel experts say that relatively cheap gas prices are part of the reason for the expected spike in travel.
Triple-A Michigan says gas prices have tumbled across the state over the past week. The statewide average fell almost 13 cents to an average of two-47 a gallon. Michigan drivers are still paying a little more than the national average of about two-30 a gallon.
