Governor Rick Snyder Tuesday signed a bill designed to make the process of planning a funeral easier.
The legislation allows individuals to designate a funeral representative to handle his or her final disposition.
Sponsors say it’s unfortunate that deaths in the family can sometimes lead to disputes over the final plans for a loved one.
With the legislation they say, potential problems are avoided.
Currently, when a person dies in Michigan, decisions concerning funeral and final disposition are made by the next of kin, which can often include multiple people.
