31 Backpacks is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that provides food every school weekend and school holidays for over 190 “at risk” Copper Country students.
A fundraiser is being held this Saturday at the Miscowaubik Club on Calumet Avenue in Calumet (next to Calumet High).
Cost is $100.00 per person and seating is limited.
There will be music by Jan Arnold, a silent auction and a raffle will take place.
Guests will also get to hear a presentation about 31 Backpacks from program founders Laurel and Melissa Maki.
Auction items are needed. Email 31backpacks@gmail.com to contact the 31 Backpacks board members if you need additional information or have items to donate or drop off at the Club.
The evening begins with a social hour at 5:00pm and dinner is at 6:00pm.
31 Backpacks delivers to the following schools: Calumet-Laurium-Keweenaw (including Horizons), Lake Linden-Hubbell, Tamarack City-Dollar Bay, Hancock Public Schools, CCISD, Houghton Public Schools, Adams Twp. Schools, Chassell Public Schools and Elm River Twp. School.
