Fountaine Case Moved To Treatment Court

A Lake Linden man charged with driving down a snowmobile trail to get away from police is headed to Treatment Court.

28-year-old Adam Scott Fountaine pled guilty to two amended counts as part of a plea agreement.

Those charges are Attempted 4th Degree Fleeing and Eluding which is punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine of $250 and Impaired Driving which carries a penalty of one year and up to a $1,000 fine.

A possession of a firearm charge was dismissed.

Prosecutors say there was no indication that the 22-bolt action rifle found in the car was being used in any way.

The charges stem from an incident in Lake Linden on June 10th when Fountaine attempted to flee from police down a snowmobile trail in his vehicle before hitting a tree.

His blood alcohol level was 0.219 at the time of his arrest.

By entering Treatment Court, Fountaine can get help for alcohol abuse but may still face further sanctions from the Secretary of State.
