Former Michigan Governor William Milliken is weighing in on the oil pipeline that runs underneath the Straits of Mackinac.
Milliken, in a Detroit Free Press opinion column, says the aging pipeline poses an environmental threat and should no longer be used to transport oil.
He also says the state must not risk the Great Lakes for the benefit of a private interest.
But state Senate Republican Tom Casperson says there have been constant tests on the pipeline and the results show the line is safe.
