More recalls from one of Detroit’s automakers. This time it’s Ford. The company is recalling more than 434,000 vehicles in two separate recalls of some of the automaker’s most popular nameplates. Over 385,000 2001 to 2004 Escape compact SUVs are being recalled because a subframe could fail because of rust and impact the ability to steer. About 349,000 of those Escapes were sold in the U.S. In a second, unrelated recall, Ford is calling back about 48,950 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and C-MAX vehicles to replace seatback frames that do not comply with a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standard. Dealers will replace the seatback frames on affected vehicles. The automaker says there have been no reported accidents or injuries because of the potentially faulty frames.
